Malhab Keirouz did his undergraduate studies in Lebanon, where he has earned a diploma in elementary education and a License in mathematics. Then, he completed his Ph.D. in mathematics at Purdue University, USA, with a specialization in differential topology. His research interest in mathematics focuses on applying differential topology, specifically the index of vector fields, to solve problems in physics and mathematics. In addition, since his intensive hand-on exposure to the Purdue Project in 1992, he has been involved in the mathematics teaching reform at the levels K-16, which is based on a constructive theoretical perspective of how mathematics is learned, following the theory of learning of Jean Piaget and Edward Dubinsky. Dr. Keirouz’s attachment to math education extended his interest to pre-service and in-service training of high school math teachers in a new teaching methodology, which is based on two main components: Integrating technology in the math learning environment and using active/cooperative learning techniques.
