- Chairperson, Department of Sciences, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, Notre Dame University – Louaize, Lebanon, October 2010- Present.
- Assistant Professor of Biology, Department of Sciences, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences-Louaize, Lebanon, October 1999 – Present.
- Visiting researcher, Division of Sleep Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, November 2010.
- Current research activity: conducting a CNRS-supported project that assesses sleep habits of university students in Lebanon in relation to psychomotor and neurocognitive performance.
- Other research interests focus on understanding the developmental history of the mammalian circadian pacemaker – the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) - in utero. This consists of a cluster of heterogeneous populations of neurons and glia which, through harmonious cellular interactions, are capable of measuring time and synchronizing various bodily rhythms accordingly. I am interested in understanding the nature of such cellular interactions and the potential role they play in cell fate determination. Understanding how the unique pattern of SCN neurogenesis and its structural organization in utero relates to the overall functional properties of the nucleus in the adult may provide better insight into the fundamental homeostatic role this biological clock plays in health and disease.
