
Wessam always goes an extra mile in helping the students and in performing tasks. His students love him because he doesn’t tell them how to get where they are going, but he takes them there. He has a passion for teaching and learning that comes from a lifelong study of English, his work experiences, and being reared in a family of educators. Wessam had seven years of experience teaching Literature and English as a Second Language to intermediate and secondary students, was responsible to assist with the management and supervision of the Al Ma’rifah Secondary School, and was a member on the committee that was responsible for writing and correcting English exams for grade 9. Also, in the United States of America, he taught English as a second language for Spanish and Asian students for two years.
Wessam got his M.A. degree in TESOL from Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma, USA in 2001. After returning from the US, in 2002, he started teaching English at Notre Dame University. He became a Lecturer in the Faculty of Humanities and Assistant Director to the Division of Continuing Education. On October 2011, he became a full-time Assistant Professor, after completing his Doctorate in Education from Saint Louis University; Missouri, USA. Moreover, he has ten years of experience in teaching TOEFL. He also completed TOEFL training for teachers at the American Foundation in the Middle East as well as workshops with the Macmillan Group from England and NDU. His doctoral research focused on collaborative instructional approaches facilitated by computer networking and blended learning.
These experiences enhanced his educational background and ability to teach English. To Wessam, teaching English is not a job, it is a talent.
