Khalid El-Fakih has a Ph.D. in Journalism from the University of Missouri at Columbia (UMC), USA and a BA in Communication from Michigan State University at East Lansing, USA. He is a Full-time Associate Professor in the Mass Communication Department at Notre Dame University-Lebanon. He chaired the Department for seven years where he reviewed the curricula and established a MA program in Media Studies. In addition, he earned, in coordination with Mr. Kamal Darouni, the IAA accreditation for the Advertising and Marketing sequence in the Department. While studying in the US, he received the Graduate Student Excellence in Teaching Award from the Journalism School at the UMC. He also received the Bush Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award—Teacher of the Year at Rust College, Mississippi, USA. Some of his Research interests include, among others, effects of media, political communication, media and public opinion, advertising regulations and controls of information.
