
Julie Pira Akkari is a lecturer in Teaching English as a Foreign language and linguistics. She started her teaching career at King Abdul-Aziz University Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where she taught, and coordinated different courses of English and linguistics and received “ King Abdul Aziz University Shield Award ” for her work . Since 1993, she has been teaching different levels of Linguistics and English courses at Notre Dame University-Louize (NDU). Also, she has been coordinator and advisor for many courses. Specifically, she has been heading the team that re-organized and re-evaluated the syllabi for the English Intensive courses. Since she descends from Assyrian, Aramaic origins, she is involved in research in the area of phonology and morphology of Modern Eastern Syriac spoken by Urmian people.
