
Born in the USA and raised in Lebanon, Amal Saleeby Malek has been writing poetry in French since age seven. She moved back to the USA during the Lebanese war, and worked at the Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations in New York with HE Ambassador Ghassan Tueni. She subsequently married and had a daughter. Upon her return to Lebanon in 1996, Malek joined NDU. After holding a position of Director of Admissions for three years, she decided to pursue a PhD in education and became a full-time instructor. As Associate Professor, she teaches English Communication Skills and Psychology. In addition to teaching Amal is a member and faculty representative of several NDU committees. She also enjoys advising and orienting students during their years at NDU and loves to accompany them until their graduation. Dr. Malek’s publications include three anthologies of French poetry and a book on return migration. Dr. Malek is presently Editor-in-Chief and Chair of the Palma Journal.
