
Dr. Nassar Mendalek has been from 1995 to 2004, a member of the Research Group in Power Electronics and Industrial Control at the “Ecole de Technologie Supérieure”, Montreal, Canada. He accomplished research works on modeling and control of power converters for active filtering and power factor correction. He elaborated novel nonlinear control techniques for active power filters such as sliding mode, exact non-linear and optimal predictive, and identified the operation of promising configurations. He participated in the design and realization of active filters to compensate the harmonics and correct the power factor of three-phase non-linear loads. In October 2004, he joined the teaching staff of the Electrical, Computer and Communication Department at NDU, where he is currently an Associate Professor. His fields of interest include power quality, harmonics and reactive power compensation, topologies and advanced control of switch mode power converters, drive systems, energy conversion, renewable energy and active power filters. He is a member of the Order of Engineers in Beirut and also a member of the IEEE.
