Dr. Elsy Ibrahim was a researcher at the hydraulics laboratory at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KULeuven), Belgium from October 2009 till October 2011. Her main research topics were in the domain of remote sensing technology for coastal applications. Specifically, Dr. Ibrahim worked on examining and developing methodologies for the use of remote sensing technology to classify bio-physical characteristics of sediments on intertidal zones. Her research included the study of sediment morphology and erodibility, image processing and data mining, geostatistics, and organization and implementation of field campaigns on specific study sites. The research was carried out in the scope of European projects funded by either the Belgian Science Policy or the European FP7 Framework.
She was highly involved in teaching “Advanced Mathematics for Water Resources Engineering” during 2006-2010 period, in the scope of the Inter-University Programme in Water Resources Engineering (IUPWARE), which is an international Master programme between KULeuven and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. Furthermore, she has supervised theses of Master’s degree in her field of expertise.
In October 2011, she joined the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at NDU-Louaize, North Campus Lebanon, as an Assistant Professor. Her research interests are in the scope of innovative technology and environmental protection and remediation.
