Dr. Chakar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental at Notre Dame University-Louaizé. He graduated from Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris with a Ph.D. in Sciences and Technics of Buildings, January 1994. He has experience in industry where he worked with Laceco, Beirut, Lebanon from 1994 till 1998 as Senior Structural Engineer on several projects among which: Lebanese University Campus (Hadath campus), design of the steel structures for the Multipurpose Hall at Beirut Sport City, design of the residential buildings project Doha Hills, design and supervision of the 8 m cantilever steel cover structure of Beirut Municipality Stadium, preliminary design of Saida Bus and Railway Station, final design Residential Development-Jalloul, final design Elissar2, steel structures design included in the rehabilitation project of EDL Main Office Building, contributed to the preliminary design of the steel cover structure of Saida Municipality Stadium.
Dr. Chakar joined the full-time faculty member’s team at NDU as an assistant professor, in October 1998. His area of teaching is mainly focused on structural analysis and related design topics such as steel design, prestressed concrete design, as well as an interest into dynamics of structures.
