Lola Saade Beyrouthy, born in Ghadir – Jounieh, 27.10.1958, is a Lebanese/American Musicologist with a PHD in Musicology and a Minor in Music Therapy. Dr. Beyrouthy is a professor of music and musicology in Lebanon.
Dr. Beyrouthy pursued her primary and secondary studies in Lebanon and received her Baccalaureate Part II in Experimental Sciences from “Ecoles des Soeurs des Saints-Coeurs” in Jounieh, she then completed her university studies at the “University Saint-Esprit” in Kaslik, from where she graduated with a PhD in musicology in the year 2000. She obtained a scholarship to learn Italian at the “Universita Per Stranieri” in Perugia – Italy. She also pursued a training in musicology research at the “Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique”, in Orleans – France in 1981. She attended several trainings in music education, music therapy, music and musicology teaching methods, piano master classes and participated in seminars in Musicology in the United States, in France and in Lebanon. She taught music at American and Lebanese schools. She directed musicology research and seminars. She directed workshops in music education. Dr. Beyrouthy practiced music therapy at “Al–Younbouh Center” for mentally challenged people. She did some administrative work in musicology and organized a number of concerts and seminars. She did musical criticism for some concerts. She prepared several curriculums for courses in musicology and is currently working on a music therapy method and started an essay on music criticism in Lebanon.
