The mission of the MA in Education is to prepare students for post graduate work. The program aims to present graduates with a knowledge-base in school leadership, technology of education, or special needs.

Program Educational Objectives

The program will prepare students to:

  1. 1.Pursue higher studies towards a doctoral degree;
  2. 2.Carry out research in their fields and/or concentration areas to further their professional career;
  3. 3.Pursue a career in upper-level positions in organizations and government offices that deal with education and educational issues;
  4. 4.Further develop their professional status through the use of their learned skills in analytical and creative thinking, research, and the use of technology in pedagogy;
  5. 5.Evaluate proposed strategies in the field of education and pedagogy.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon graduation, students should be able to:

  1. 1.Enroll in post-graduate programs;
  2. 2.Implement the contemporary theories of education to their careers;
  3. 3.Contribute to educational research;
  4. 4.Demonstrate advanced understanding of learning theory and methodologies;
  5. 5.Analyze the issues in current education practices in Lebanon and the region;
  6. 6.Demonstrate commitment to professional ethical conduct.

Admission Requirements

Candidates are expected to have completed the degree of Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts in Education, or Bachelor of Arts with a Teaching Diploma from an accredited university. Candidates holding the degree of Bachelor of Arts or Sciences in a related field from an accredited university will be considered on an individual basis, pending the decision of the Department concerning special admission conditions.

 

Graduation Requirements

To satisfy the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Education, the student must complete a total of 33 credits with an overall average of 3.0/4.0, inclusive of a thesis.

 

Courses

Concentration - Special Education (9cr.)

The Special Education concentration prepares educators to work with students with special needs. The program emphasizes interaction between students, teacher, and school administrations. Choose three of the following courses:

Concentration - School Management and Educational Leadership (9cr.)

Educators who wish to pursue a career in school administration will be exposed to best practice in policy making, leadership skills, law, and methodology. Choose three from the following courses:

Concentration - Educational Technology (9cr.)

Educators interested in applying modern technology to the classroom will benefit from this concentration. Courses focus on practical application of technology to enhance student learning. Choose three of the following courses:
