Note from the Chair

The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME) at Notre Dame University-Louaize offers the degrees of Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering. The DME is staffed with dedicated faculty members whose demonstrated expertise and knowledge have been a major driving force behind the excellent reputation that this department enjoys. The Mechanical Engineering program is fully accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Our programs provide a lasting educational foundation and render our graduates technically and socially adept and prepared for exciting careers in a diverse and fast-moving workforce. Our students are required to gain a firm understanding of engineering principles through a wide spectrum of theoretical and design courses intended to teach them the skills necessary to analyze and solve engineering problems, and to properly design engineering systems. The undergraduate experience culminates with a year-long senior design project. Several laboratory courses are offered in order to give students practical experience by direct application of engineering principles. Our graduate MS program in Mechanical Engineering will provide students with a further development of his area of interest.

I would like to invite you to check the Department facilities webpages where you can check our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and our new acquisitions. Research in the DME covers a large spectrum of Mechanical and Chemical Engineering disciplines as can be shown from faculty publications in international refereed journals and conferences.

The Department dedicated faculty and staff strive to graduate engineers naturally inclined to life-long learning and problem solvers ready to deal with any technological challenge. Many of our alumni have begun to generate new knowledge or exercise leadership in their positions to the benefit of society. Students are also provided opportunities to gain leadership and communication skills and make difference worldwide with international professional societies such as ASHRAE, ASME and Engineers Without Borders.
