Nicolas Khabbaz is a Film and Theater Producer, Writer and Director; as of 2005 has produced 11 theater plays, by the renowned Lebanese actor/director Georges Khabbaz, and lately, produced and co-wrote his first independent feature film “Waynon” (Void); The Film which was selected in more than 20 international film festivals, will represent Lebanon at the Academy Awards 2016 (Oscars) for Best Foreign Language Film, after receiving 9 international recognitions and awards in Los Angeles, Dubai, Dublin, Egypt, Sweden, Morocco, Australia, Los Angeles, New York and Nigeria; And 5 national awards among which the “Murex D’Or” for the Best Lebanese Feature Film for 2014. He is currently working on producing two feature film projects, the first is a coproduction between Lebanon, Germany and Ireland, and the second is a Lebanese Russian coproduction. Dr. Khabbaz is currently the Director of the Division of Audio Visual Arts at Notre Dame University – Louaize since 2011. He is the Co-Founder and Program & Artistic Director of NDU International Film Festival since 2007, and serves as jury member in various local and international film festivals. He also is the founding member of the Emile Chahine Foundation for Cinema Culture, and of Film Festivals Cinergy. Nicolas holds a PhD in Cinema studies entitled “Lebanese Film and Cultural Identity” from University of the Holy Spirit (USEK), an MA in Media Studies - Electronic Media from NDU, and a BA in Communication Arts, in Radio, Television and Film from NDU. He has organized, participated and presented workshops and seminars on Lebanese Cinema, Directing, and Production. Since 2006, he taught courses in Cinema Studies, Television Production and Techniques and in Television Drama.
