In order to access these resources from off campus please do the following:

  • Choose a database from the list by clicking on the link.
  • You will be directed to a login page, where you will fill in the following information:
    • Username: Your complete NDU email address, i.e. reference@ndu.edu.lb
    • Password: Your email password.

The database search page will open so you can proceed as usual.

ACM Digital Library is the full-text repository of papers published by ACM and by other publishers that have co-publishing or co-marketing agreements with ACM. This database contains citations and full text from ACM journal and newsletter articles and conference proceedings.

Art Museum Image Gallery
Art Museum Image Gallery is a rich digital resource of art images and related multimedia gathered from the collections of distinguished museums around the world.
NOTE: H.W. Wilson has launched the Art Museum Image Gallery to replace The AMICO Library. The AMICO Library was discontinued as of June 30, 2005 with the dissolution of the AMICO consortium.

ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Digital Library
This database links to online editions of ASME Journals. American Society of Mechanical Engineers is a 120,000-member professional organization focused on technical, educational and research issues of the engineering and technology community.

ASTM Standards
ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards are often incorporated by purchasers and sellers into contracts; engineers, architects and designers incorporate them in their plans; government agencies incorporate them by reference into codes, regulations, and laws; and many other organizations and industries refer to ASTM standards for guidance. The ASTM standards service, includes all available active specification documents, test methods, classifications, practices, and guides. These standards describe the characteristics and performance of materials, systems, products, and services.

Blackwell Synergy
Blackwell Synergy is the online journals service from Blackwell Publishing. It holds the full-text articles of over 850 journals, the majority of which are published by Blackwell on behalf of international scholarly and professional societies. The subjects covered range across Medicine, Science, Social Science and the Humanities.

Britannica Online

This database includes the complete encyclopedia Britannica, the world's most comprehensive reference product, as well as Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus, Britannica Student Encyclopedia and the Britannica Book of the Year. Encyclopædia Britannica Online includes more than 118,000 articles, updated and revised by Encyclopædia Britannica editors and contributors; over 14,000 illustrations, including photographs, drawings, maps, and flags; and more than 215,000 entries from Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus.



ChoiceReviews.online
This database provides Web access to the entire database of CHOICE reviews published since September 1988. It reviews significant current books and electronic resources of interest to those in higher education. Each year CHOICE publishes more than 6,500 reviews by subject experts. This database is updated monthly, generally at mid-month, with reviews that will be printed in the next monthly issue of CHOICE. ChoiceReviews.online is a publication of the Association of College and Research Libraries, a division of the American Library Association

Columbia Gazetteer of the World Online
The definition of the term gazetteer, when used in a geographical sense, is a "geographical index or dictionary." When used in atlases or map indexes, gazetteers are simply assemblages of alphabetically-ordered listings of places or physical/cultural features. More extensive gazetteers include brief descriptions along with the listings. The comprehensive gazetteer, however, is an encyclopedia of geographical places and features.

The Columbia Gazetteer of the World is a database that includes listings of geographical places and features. Entries include information about: demography; physical geography; political boundaries; industry, trade, and service activities; agriculture; cultural, historical, and archeological points of interest; transportation lines; longitude, latitude, and elevations; distance to relevant places; pronunciations; official local government place-names and changed or variant names and spellings.

Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO)
Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) is the most comprehensive source for theory and research in international affairs. It publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 onward that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, proceedings from conferences, books, journals and policy briefs.
CIAO is also widely-recognized source for teaching materials including original case studies written by leading international affairs experts, course packs of background readings for history and political science classes, and special features like the analysis of a bin Laden recruitment tape with video. Updated monthly.

Custom Newspapers Database
The newspaper database allows users to search articles by title, headline, date, author, section or other assigned fields. Currently, the following titles are available: The Christian Science Monitor, The Financial Times, The Guardian, and The New York Times. Updated daily.

Dissertation Abstracts
With more than 1.6 million entries, the Dissertation Abstracts database is the single, authoritative source for information about doctoral dissertations and master's theses. The database represents the work of authors from over 1,000 graduate schools and universities primarily in the U.S., but selected international institutions are also included. Nearly 47,000 new dissertations and 12,000 new theses are added to the database each year.

The database includes bibliographic citations for materials ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester. Updated monthly.



eBrary
The Ebrary Academic Complete Collection is a book database that offers full-text online access to over 30,000 authoritative titles with concentrations in Business & Economics, Computers & Technology, Humanities, the Social Sciences, Music and more.

EBSCO A to Z
This site allows you to browse and search the titles available in the NDU Libraries Electronic Resources in a single interface. You can use the Index tab to view a list of databases; the Titles tab to browse a list of titles arranged alphabetically; the Subjects tab to browse a list of subject areas covered by the titles in our collection; and finally the Search tab to search by title name, publisher name, or ISSN, as well as to control search type (Begins With, Exact Match, etc.)

Emerald Fulltext
Emerald Fulltext is a collection of over 40,000 articles from over 100 of the most prestigious management journals, complete with full text archives back to 1994 and abstracts back to 1989. This database covers all major management disciplines including marketing, human resources management, library and information management and quality, operations management and more.

Expanded Academic ASAP International
A premier database for research that offers balanced coverage in all the academic disciplines. Some of the subjects covered are: arts, science, technology, advertising, microbiology, history and women's studies, etc. This database combines indexing, abstracts, full text and images. Coverage starts from 1980 (until present). Updated daily.

Global Booksinprint with reviews
Global Booksinprint with reviews is a bibliographic database that provides information about English-language books, audios and videos published in the U.S., Great Britain, Canada, etc.

It allows access to over 5 million titles with their full bibliographic description: Author, publication details, subjects, etc. Our account is set to include reviews (where available) within the product.

Governmental Transaction Counselor (Arabic)
Provides copies of official ministerial forms and documents needed for Lebanese official Transactions. It includes all information pertaining to the documents, and fees required by each Ministry.

Health & Wellness Resource Center
Provides instant access to compiled trusted medical reference materials from 1980 to the present. Includes nearly 400 health/medical journals, numerous reference volumes, over 700 health videos, hundreds of pamphlets and health-related articles from 2,200 general interest publications. Material contained in this Resource Center is intended for informational purposes only.



IEEE Xplore
IEEE Xplore provides full-text access to IEEE transactions, journals, magazines and conference proceedings published since 1988 and all current IEEE standards. Updated frequently with new content as it becomes available.

Index Islamicus
Index Islamicus database indexes literature on Islam, the Middle East and the Muslim world. This database is produced by the Islamic Bibliography Unit at Cambridge University Library. Records included in the database cover almost a century of publications, with some going back to 1906.



JSTOR
The JSTOR database provides online access to the complete backfiles of more than 117 core scholarly journals (in digitized format) of several academic disciplines, starting with the very first issues, many of which date from the 1800s. Over 4 million pages are now available and new titles are added constantly.

JSTOR does not include current journal issues. There is a gap of about 2 to 5 years (moving wall) between the most recently published issue of any journal and the date of the most recent issue available in JSTOR.



Kompass
Kompass is a very large source for information about companies all over the world. This database provides information for over 1.6 companies worldwide, 50,000 product and service codes, 23 million product and service references, 744,000 trade and brand names, and about 3,2 million executives' names in over 70 countries. 



The Lebanese Legal Counselor (Arabic)
Provides access to the complete collection of Lebanese legislation, laws and regulations since the Ottoman era to the present. Updated weekly.

Literature Resource Center / MLA International Bibliography
LRC provides access to biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of more than 120,000 authors from every age and literary discipline.

MLA provides access to more than 1.5 million bibliographic citations from 1963 to the present in academic disciplines such as: language, literature, folklore, linguistics, and film. It includes the Modern Language Association Thesaurus, as well as The Modern Language Association's Directory of Periodicals. Updated monthly.



MathSciNet
MathSciNet is a comprehensive database covering the world's mathematical literature since 1940 and provides Web access to the bibliographic data and reviews of mathematical research literature contained in the Mathematical Reviews Database.

Middle Eastern & Central Asian Studies (MECAS)
MECAS is a systematic, and non-evaluative bibliographic index of research, policy, and scholarly discourse on the countries and peoples of the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa. Over 12,000 records of recently published & "grey" literature are added annually. Coverage includes the following fields: political affairs & law, international relations, economic affairs: business & industry, cultural heritage, arts & humanities, society & social welfare, ethnic diversity & anthropology, significant religious events & movements, and recent history (1900 - present) & archaeology.

Multidataonline
This database indexes and provides full text for selected articles from about 250 Arabic newspapers and specialized periodicals. Some of the titles covered are : Lebanon Opportunities, Magazine, L'Orient-le Jour, La Revue du Liban, The Daily Star, An-Nahar. Al Massira, Al Ahram, Al-Afkar, etc. Updated daily.



Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center
Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center is the premier database covering social issues, such as Gun Control, Genetic Engineering, Censorship, Endangered Species, and Terrorism. It brings together viewpoint articles, contextual topic overviews, government and organizational statistics, biographies of social activists, court cases, profiles of government agencies and special interest groups, newspaper and magazines articles, as well as links to more than 1,400 reviewed and subject-indexed web sites. It takes its name from the renowned Opposing Viewpoints print series published by Greenhaven Press, an imprint of the Gale Group.

Oxford English Dictionary Online
The Oxford English Dictionary traces the usage of words through 2.5 million quotations from a wide range of international English language sources, from classic literature and specialist periodicals to film scripts and cookery books.

The OED covers words from across the English-speaking world, from North America to South Africa, from Australia and New Zealand to the Caribbean. It also offers the best in etymological analysis and in listing of variant spellings, and it shows pronunciation using the International Phonetic Alphabe

Oxford Journals Online
Oxford Journals Online provides full text access to approximately 200 journals published in the fields of business, economics, science, engineering, medicine & health sciences, humanities, social science, arts and law.

Oxford Reference Online
Contains about 100 dictionary, language reference, and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press. It is a fully-indexed, cross-searchable database of these books, giving access to a comprehensive information resource.



ProQuest 5000 International
ProQuest 5000 International is one of the world's most comprehensive collections of digital information. This database covers 5,500 journals and comprising sixteen smaller databases including ABI/INFORM® Global, Pharmaceutical News Index, ProQuest Accounting & Tax Database™, ProQuest Asian Business™, ProQuest Banking Information Source™, ProQuest Career & Technical Education™, ProQuest Computing™, ProQuest Education Complete™, ProQuest European Business™, ProQuest Newsstand™, ProQuest Religion™, ProQuest Telecommunications ™, and Academic Research Library™.

ProQuest Religious Periodicals
Coverage of religious affairs and religious thinking from the top periodicals, i.e., The Catholic World; Mahwah (1992 - 1996), The Catholic Historical Review; Washington (1995 - current), Catholic Update; Cincinnati (1998 - current), Today's Catholic Teacher; Dayton (1998 - current), etc.

RefWorks is a software application that will help you format bibliographies and citations automatically while you research, create and organize a personal research database online, access your information online from any computer, share your database with colleagues around the world. To start, create your RefWorks account; you will be able to add citations manually or import citations from databases, organize and manage your citations with folders, format bibliographies instantly in any of over 400 styles (MLA, APA, Turabian, etc.)

ScienceDirect
ScienceDirect® is the essential information resource for millions of scientists around the world. It provides access to over 1700 scientific, technical & medical peer-reviewed journals and allows the search of over 59 million abstracts from scientific articles. Since its commercial launch in 1999, ScienceDirect has evolved from a web database of Elsevier Science journals to one of the world's largest providers of scientific, technical and medical (STM) literature.



Testing & Education Reference Center
This database helps users prepare for higher education and the working world by teaming with Thomson Peterson’s to deliver detailed information on private high schools, undergraduate and graduate programs and executive education programs, searchable by location, major, tuition, sports and more.
Testing & Education Reference Center provides everything a student needs to learn more about further education and assists in making informed decisions on their future from one single, handy database. It also features interactive online practice tests for preparatory examinations including entrance exams and certification and licensing tests.



Ulrich's Periodicals Directory
Ulrich's directory is the premier serials source with nearly 250,000 serials, periodicals, annuals, and newspapers worldwide This bibliographic database provides access to detailed, comprehensive and authoritative information on journals and magazines published throughout the world, with links to tables of contents, article abstracts, and journal full-text. It also includes reviews from Magazines for Libraries and Library, and links users to related serials for alternate titles and alternate media formats, and contains URLs and e-mail addresses for links to journals and publishers.



Wilson Art Full Text
Art Full Text is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles from periodicals published throughout the world. Full-text coverage for selected periodicals is also included. Periodical coverage includes English-language periodicals, yearbooks, and museum bulletins, as well as periodicals published in French, Italian, German, Japanese, Spanish, Dutch, and Swedish. In addition to articles, Art Full Text indexes reproductions of works of art that appear in indexed periodicals. Indexing coverage begins 1984; abstracting coverage begins with January 1994. The abstracts range from 50 to 300 words and describe the content and scope of the source articles. Full-text coverage begins in 1997. Updated monthly.
